Is PHOTAVIA web-based?
Yes — fully accessible through any standard browser at PHOTAVIA.TV, on any device with internet access. No download required.
Does PHOTAVIA have an app?
Not currently. PHOTAVIA is fully web-based and works through any browser. A dedicated app was designed previously, and we're taking a fresh look at that as part of our ongoing development.
What equipment do I need to display PHOTAVIA?
Most communities can display PHOTAVIA on equipment they already have — HDMI (wired), Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, or Miracast (built into Windows).
When would I need dedicated PHOTAVIA hardware?
Only for a 24/7 Network or Channel setup — PHOTAVIA running continuously in a commons area, often replacing something like a fish-tank or fireplace channel, with content that can be scheduled throughout the day. Outside that use case, no dedicated hardware is needed.
What are the internet/Wi-Fi requirements?
Depends on delivery method:
-
Web-based: a stable, basic broadband connection is sufficient
-
Video box/24/7 Channel: no ongoing internet required — content loads onto the unit directly
-
Cable/"black channel" delivery: also not dependent on internet bandwidth
For locations with inconsistent internet, the video box option is the most reliable.
